Apple appears poised to release a second generation of its HomePod mini smart speaker, with new details emerging from the company’s internal code. According to reports from MacRumors, the upcoming device will feature a refreshed color palette while maintaining the iconic shape of the original product.
The HomePod mini 2 is reportedly available in green, pink, light blue, white, and black. This lineup marks a departure from the first-generation model, which was offered in yellow, orange, blue, white, and midnight blue. Despite these cosmetic changes, the overall design remains largely unchanged.
Industry expectations suggest the update will launch this autumn, potentially coinciding with the rollout of Siri AI and a next-generation Apple TV streaming device. The original HomePod mini debuted in October 2020 at a price point of $99, which was later increased to $129. Since its release, Apple has not produced a major hardware revision, though it did introduce a new color option in July 2024.
While specific technical specifications and pricing have not been confirmed, analysts anticipate the inclusion of a new processor to support advanced AI capabilities. Additionally, rumors persist regarding a separate smart home hub device currently in development by Apple, which is said to feature a screen and be centered around Siri AI.
