Gutsy Pictures Teams with MTV and Zeitsprung for Zaida Bergroth’s ‘Dangerous Woman’

Finland-based production company Gutsy Pictures has announced a partnership with MTV Finland, Germany’s Zeitsprung, and Sweden’s Götafilm for the upcoming psychological thriller series “Dangerous Woman.” Marika Makaroff, who leads Gutsy Pictures, secured the greenlight from MTV Finland to produce the project.

The six-episode series is created by Makaroff and directed by Zaida Bergroth, known for her work on the Finnish Oscar submission “Tove.” Joining the creative team is BAFTA winner Kevin Rundle, recognized for “Gangs of London” and “The Thaw,” reuniting with Gutsy Pictures following their successful collaboration on the Canneseries-selected series “L/Over.”

Already pre-sold to TV4 in Sweden, the drama centers on Laura, a successful middle-aged woman who violently attacks a man at an interior design fair. As she faces arrest, hidden secrets emerge, revealing that she has been living under a false identity for years and is connected to an unsolved murder case. The narrative unfolds across three timelines.

Makaroff noted that she had wanted to tell this story for a decade but initially found the concept too extreme. “Today, hatred has become increasingly normalized, and I wanted to explore what happens when it moves beyond the surface,” she explained.

The series will be pitched to international buyers on October 21 at Barcelona’s Serielizados Pro Mind the Gap.
