French Students Renew School Blockades, Vowing Continued Protests

French high school students have reignited their campaign against the deteriorating state of the national education system, re-blockading schools and organizing marches across the country on the tenth day of demonstrations. The sustained unrest has resulted in hundreds of injuries since the protests began.

On Thursday, large crowds gathered for primarily peaceful demonstrations in several major cities, including Lille, Rennes, Nantes, Lyon, Toulon, and Marseille. In Paris, a significant procession moved through the city center before converging at the Place de la Bastille.

Participants, comprising both teenagers and teachers, continue to demand increased investment and concrete measures to improve school conditions, stating that recent pledges from government ministers do not go far enough to address their concerns.

  1. Why do French students always resort to blockades? I wonder if open dialogue with the education ministry could have resolved this peacefully by now.

  2. Finally, students are standing up for their education. Empty promises from ministers clearly are not enough to fix these systemic issues.

  3. It is alarming that hundreds have been injured during these protests. The government needs to respond before things escalate further.
