Ella Langley’s scheduled Friday night performance at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was called off following reports of a serious security threat. While law enforcement ultimately found no credible danger, the incident prompted an ongoing investigation assisted by the FBI.
Langley, who is currently performing on her Dandelion Tour in support of her second studio album, was set to headline the event. Authorities initially conducted a pre-concert sweep of the venue using bomb-detection dogs, which yielded no results and allowed the show to proceed. However, police later received a warning indicating that attendees could be at risk of gunfire and bombs.
Tulsa Police Department Capt. Richard Meulenberg stated that officers returned to the venue for additional searches but found no credible threat. Despite the all-clear from law enforcement, Langley and venue officials decided to cancel the concert based on the advice of local authorities, the venue, and her security team.
In a joint statement, Langley and the BOK Center emphasized that the safety of fans and personnel was the top priority. “We understand the disappointment this news brings and apologize to fans who planned to attend,” the statement read. “The safety of fans is our foremost concern and will always come first.”
Langley addressed her followers directly via social media, expressing regret over the cancellation. She noted that the decision was made under advisement from authorities and her team. “I know how much time, track, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can’t tell you how sorry I am,” Langley wrote. “I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way.”
Information regarding ticket refunds is expected to be released soon. The country music star recently achieved a historic milestone when her hit single “Choosin’ Texas” became the longest-running No. 1 song in Billboard Hot 100 history, holding the top spot for 23 weeks.
Langley kicked off her tour in Toledo, Ohio, in May and most recently performed at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. Her upcoming schedule includes a show in Lubbock, Texas, followed by two nights at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. The tour concludes on October 31 at the Grand Casino Arena in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Crazy that after finding no credible danger, they still canceled it. Must be a nightmare for ticket logistics too.
Wait, did they say if she plays Tulsa again later this year? I have a ticket but can’t afford another one.
An FBI investigation is serious business. Better safe than sorry, even if the concert-goers are just heartbroken right now.
So relieved there was no actual threat. Hope she gets a quick refund so fans can see her in Lubbock instead!
