Chicago Cubs third baseman Alex Bregman was transported to a hospital for diagnostic imaging after being struck in the face by a foul ball on Sunday. The incident occurred while the player was standing near the on-deck circle during the team’s matchup against the Cincinnati Reds.
Team officials described the event as a “terrible, terrible accident.” Bregman underwent both X-rays and CT scans to assess the extent of his injuries. As of Sunday evening, no determination had been made regarding whether he would accompany the club back to Chicago following the Cubs’ 9-1 victory.
CT scans after a foul ball? That sounds pretty serious for something that small. Scary stuff.
