Céline Dion Delivers Emotional Return to Stage in Paris

Céline Dion returned to the stage on Saturday for the opening of her long-awaited Paris residency, marking her first full performance since 2020. The 58-year-old Canadian pop icon kicked off a 26-show run at the Paris La Défense Arena, ending a six-year absence from touring due to her diagnosis with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder revealed in 2022.

Dion addressed the capacity crowd of approximately 30,000 with visible emotion, stating, “I made a promise to come back, to be back on stage. And here I am. Singing for you, and singing for me.” She added, “I am everything I am because you loved me.” The singer, who has not headlined a full tour since a 2020 New Jersey concert before the pandemic, did break down in tears during the show, telling the audience, “I had promised myself not to cry. But I’m so happy to see you all. I missed you.”
