Boox has officially opened pre-orders for its newest device, the Boox Picco, described as an exceptionally compact and lightweight electronic reader. Measuring approximately the size of a standard playing card, the unit features a 3.94-inch display and weighs only 58 grams (0.13 lbs). The device is priced starting at $100, with deliveries expected to begin in November.
The Picco utilizes a monochrome ePaper screen offering 235 pixels per inch. It includes both physical page-turn buttons and touchscreen functionality, along with four-way screen orientation support. An adjustable front light allows users to toggle between warm and cool tones to suit different reading environments. To enhance portability, the device ships with a magnetic ring case designed to attach securely to the back of a smartphone, preventing it from getting lost in larger bags.
Storage capabilities include a built-in 16GB microSD card, with support for expansion up to 2TB. This capacity reportedly allows for a substantial digital library. Boox initially revealed the Picco earlier in the summer, positioning it as the first product in a new lineup dubbed “Boox Tiles.” The company stated these devices feature unique form factors intended to integrate ePaper technology more deeply into daily routines.
