Australian Security Agencies Probe Flydubai Co-Pilot’s Prior Residence

Australian intelligence and security bodies have initiated a review into the two years that the flydubai co-pilot reportedly spent in the country as a student. This inquiry follows revelations that the individual, who allegedly attempted to hijack an Israel-bound aircraft, had a significant period of residence in Australia prior to the incident.

The investigation comes in the wake of a dramatic event on Wednesday, where passengers and crew members acted swiftly to prevent the co-pilot from seizing control of the flight. The aircraft, carrying 182 people, was bound for Tel Aviv when the crisis unfolded.

The situation escalated dangerously, causing the plane to drop approximately 16,625 feet, or 5,067 metres, in just over 30 seconds. Authorities have confirmed they are examining the co-pilot’s history and activities during his time in Australia to better understand the context surrounding the alleged attempt.
