Apple Scheduled to Reveal First Touchscreen MacBook Pro on October 27

According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple is preparing to announce its first-ever touchscreen MacBook Pro during an event scheduled for “on or around” October 27. The company is also expected to introduce a refreshed version of the iPad Mini at the same time.

If the timeline holds, this late-October gathering would occur just two weeks after the October 13 event that Apple officially announced on Monday. That earlier gathering is anticipated to center primarily on smart home devices.

Bloomberg notes that the upcoming Mac and iPad launch will feature both an online video presentation and an in-person component for press members, mirroring the format reportedly planned for the mid-October smart home announcement.

Detailed specifications for the new laptop remain limited, but the report suggests the upcoming MacBook Pros will be lighter than current models and will feature touch-enabled displays.

  1. I’m still skeptical about fingerprints on a keyboard area. Hope they’ve solved that elegantly, not just slapped glass on top.

  2. Can someone confirm the specs? Lighter models sound nice, but is the battery life actually going to improve?

  3. Two events in October? That’s intense. I wonder if the iPad Mini refresh is just an afterthought this time around.

  4. Does anyone actually want a touchscreen on a laptop? It feels like a gimmick, especially with the trackpad being so good now.

  5. Finally! I’ve been waiting for Apple to bring touch to the Mac for years. This feels like the long-overdue update.
