Anthropic Commits $100 Million to Train Next-Generation AI Engineers

Anthropic has announced a $100 million investment in a new training initiative designed to cultivate a workforce of advanced artificial intelligence engineers. The program, known as the Claude Frontier Academy, aims to certify 10,000 “frontier deployed engineers” by the end of 2027, targeting professionals from companies within Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network.

The inaugural cohort will include engineers from major organizations such as Accenture, Morgan Stanley, Novo Nordisk, and several leading consulting firms. According to the company, the curriculum emerged directly from its collaborative work with businesses integrating Claude into their operations.

“We hear our customers and partner organizations say, we need more people who can bring together familiarity with enterprise tech and business context, and combine that with the highest level of AI fluency to solve the problems that need solving,” Shambhavi Shambhavi, Anthropic’s head of strategy and operations for partnerships, told CNBC.

The training model mirrors Anthropic’s own internal methods, beginning with an intensive simulated enterprise deployment and graded assessment. Successful candidates will enter a residency program structured similarly to medical teaching models, where software engineers learn from instructors, practice with real-world casework, and undergo final assessment and credentialing. The first group of engineers is expected to receive certification in early 2027.

“Claude Frontier Academy trains people the way our own engineers learn, and we want those who graduate to set the standard for how AI gets built inside a business,” said Steve Corfield, Anthropic’s global head of business development and partnerships, in a press release.

This educational push coincides with significant expansion at Anthropic as it prepares for an anticipated initial public offering later this year. Reports indicate the company could seek a valuation of up to $2 trillion. Data leaked from its IPO prospectus revealed that Anthropic generated nearly $4.6 billion in revenue last year while recording an operating loss exceeding $8 billion.

The initiative addresses a widespread shortage of skilled AI talent across industries. Demand for forward deployed engineers and other AI-related roles has surged significantly, particularly within the finance sector, according to data from Draup provided exclusively to CNBC.
