Meta has unveiled an open-source software development kit that empowers users to construct personalized hardware integrations for its new Muse AI agent. The company is encouraging enthusiasts to move beyond standard interfaces by building custom gadgets that showcase the AI’s capabilities.
Meta suggests several potential projects for those interested in the initiative. Users can program Muse onto color E Ink screens to serve as digital reminders, attach the system to an HDMI stick for display on televisions, or assemble a compact touchscreen unit resembling the company’s proprietary Muse Charm device.
According to Meta, these are entirely user-built, open-source devices. The process involves programming an off-the-shelf ESP32 microcontroller board or configuring a Raspberry Pi with the provided SDKs. Once set up, the hardware can be connected to a wide array of peripherals, including displays, buttons, sensors, and actuators found on a typical workbench.
