Amazon-owned doorbell camera manufacturer Ring is set to release its Neighbours community application in the United Kingdom. The move positions the service as a direct alternative to existing informal digital networks, such as WhatsApp chats and Facebook groups that residents currently use to communicate within their neighborhoods.
The platform is designed to function as a contemporary virtual community bulletin board. Users will have the ability to share information regarding local safety concerns, broader community issues, and lost pets, consolidating these interactions into a single, dedicated space.
Will this actually replace Facebook groups or just add another app to delete? Skeptical about the adoption rate.
Does this mean Ring will have access to all our local gossip? I am not entirely comfortable with that.
Finally, a dedicated space for our street. Much better than scrolling through endless WhatsApp forwards.
