Two Royal Air Force pilots have safely ejected and landed by parachute after their training aircraft crashed on the island of Anglesey. The incident involved an RAF T2 Hawk operating out of RAF Valley.
North Wales Police confirmed that both aviators were treated for what are believed to be minor injuries following the crash in the Pencarnisiog area. Emergency services, including helicopters from the Coastguard and the Wales Air Ambulance, responded quickly to the scene near the airbase.
Police stated that there are currently no reports of wider damage or injuries to people on the ground. Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area until further notice while investigations continue.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence said: “An incident involving an RAF T2 Hawk aircraft, flying out of RAF Valley.” They added that an investigation is underway and declined to provide further comment at this time.
RAF Valley, located on Anglesey, previously served as the base for the Prince of Wales during his tenure as a search and rescue pilot from 2010 to 2013.
Funny how Prince Charles also flew from there. Hope he is not too concerned about the safety record!
