Nvidia Confirms DLSS 5 Support for RTX 40-Series GPUs Amid Modding Buzz

Nvidia is officially expanding its DLSS 5 AI rendering technology to include the RTX 40-series graphics cards, confirming that the feature will no longer be exclusive to its latest hardware. The decision follows rapid community efforts by modders who successfully ported a leaked version of DLSS 5 to a wide range of older GPUs, allowing users full control over performance sliders.

Originally, Nvidia planned to launch the controversial technology this evening solely on RTX 50-series GPUs, ensuring that developers maintained complete authority over their artistic vision. However, the availability of the modded version prompted the company to adjust its rollout strategy.

In a statement to The Verge, Nvidia spokesperson Rajal Maharaj acknowledged the shift, noting that while the primary focus remains on optimizing performance for the RTX 50 Series, the company is now moving forward with official support for previous-generation hardware.
