Tottenham Hotspur have excluded Richarlison from their Premier League squad for the first half of the season, signaling that the Brazilian striker is no longer part of the club’s plans.
Manager Roberto de Zerbi confirmed last week that the 29-year-old has repeatedly requested a departure. Speculation initially linked him with a return to Everton, but a deal failed to materialize before the Tuesday transfer deadline.
Richarlison, who joined Spurs from Everton in 2022, is in the final year of his contract. Although he started the season opener against Brentford, he was dropped for Saturday’s 2-0 defeat by Newcastle United, having been replaced by loan signing Omar Marmoush.
“Richarlison, I don’t know. He said too many times he wants to leave,” de Zerbi said following the Newcastle match. The manager had previously acknowledged the difficulty of replacing the forward, noting last August that it was not easy to find another striker of Richarlison’s caliber.
Last season, Richarlison was crucial to Tottenham’s survival bid, finishing as the club’s top scorer with 11 goals and four assists in 32 league appearances. With the transfer windows in Turkey and Saudi Arabia still open, he is expected to leave the club in the coming days.
