iOS 27 iPhone Handoff Allows Seamless Switching Between Two Phones Using One Number

Apple will introduce a new feature called iPhone Handoff with the release of iOS 27 later this month. The update allows users to seamlessly switch between two iPhones using the same phone number. The functionality was briefly referenced during Apple’s WWDC keynote in June, though no specifics were provided at that time.

A recently released demo clip illustrates the setup process within Xcode 27’s Device Hub. The feature enables pairing of two iPhones, designating one as the primary device and the other as a companion unit.

The rollout of this capability coincides with anticipation for the upcoming foldable iPhone Ultra. Given the device’s size and premium price point, many users may prefer using a secondary, more compact iPhone alongside their main device.

  2. I’m concerned about the security implications of linking two devices with one number. Who else feels uneasy about this?
