The chief executive of the mental health charity Mind has stated that organizations within the sector have neglected to adequately address the risk of violence posed by a small minority of individuals with severe mental illnesses. This comment comes just before the upcoming closure of the inquiry into the Nottingham attacks.
Dr Sarah Hughes, who has led Mind for the past four years and boasts nearly four decades of experience in the field, explained that the reluctance to discuss these dangers stems from concerns that doing so would exacerbate stigma and harassment directed at people living with mental health conditions.
