Virender Sehwag’s reality competition series, “Rise & Fall” Season 2, is scheduled to debut on Prime Video on September 26. The Banijay Asia production will stream for free on both Prime Video and the MX Player Android app, which has recently rebranded as MX Player by Prime Video. Daily episodes will run throughout the show’s 42-day duration.
Four of the fifteen competitors have been revealed: actress Swara Bhasker, socialite Shehzad Poonawalla, former cricketer Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, and actor Karan Patel. The remaining eleven contestants are yet to be announced.
Adapted from the popular British format originally created by Studio Lambert, the series revolves around a fluid power structure. Participants alternate between “Ruler” and “Worker” roles, with their status determined by strategic choices rather than scripted events.
Choudhary, who has previous experience in reality television, highlighted the unique dynamic of the show. “I’ve experienced reality television in different forms, but ‘Rise & Fall’ Season 2 brings a whole new dimension to the game,” she said. “The idea of going from being a Ruler to a Worker and having your position shaped by the choices you make makes this experience especially exciting for me… I’m ready to step into the game, take on whatever position comes my way and see how far I can rise.”
I loved Season 1. If Season 2 keeps this tension, it could be the best unscripted show of the year. September 26 can’t come soon enough.
Is it really free if it’s on Prime Video? I thought you needed a subscription for most Prime content now. Please clarify.
Finally, a show that isn’t just drama for drama’s sake. The Ruler/Worker mechanic sounds genuinely strategic rather than manufactured conflict.
A former cricketer in a non-cricket reality show? Priyanka Chahar Choudhary brings a unique perspective. Hope the game balance isn’t skewed by athletes.
Swara Bhasker is an interesting pick. I wonder if she handles the pressure better than the other contestants announced so far.
