US Declares End of Record Cyclospora Outbreak Linked to Taylor Farms Lettuce

Federal health authorities announced Friday that the United States’ largest recorded multi-state outbreak of cyclosporiasis has concluded. The outbreak, caused by the parasitic infection cyclospora, was traced back to processed iceberg lettuce produced by Taylor Farms at a facility in central Mexico.

According to data released by officials, the incident resulted in 12,883 confirmed infections across 21 states. The severe cases led to 570 hospitalizations and two fatalities, marking it as a significant public health event in recent US history.
