United Auto Workers president Shawn Fain has secured a decisive victory in his bid for re-election, overcoming a campaign period shadowed by accusations of corruption and interference. Fain defeated his opponent, Rich Boyer, who garnered only 13% of the total vote.
The contest for the four-year leadership term began with the mailing of ballots in late August 2026, followed by the start of vote tabulation on October 6.
Fain clearly has the base’s support. This result sets up some interesting negotiations ahead.
The corruption allegations are still bothering me. Can the UAW trust its leadership after all that noise?
Hard to believe Boyer only got 13%. That landslide says more about his campaign than Fain’s, honestly.
