Two men of Iranian nationality have been formally charged with terrorism offences in connection with an alleged conspiracy to attack the Jewish community in the Manchester area. Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) announced the development on October 2, 2026.
Rahman Salehi, aged 35, and Salam Ahmadyan, 36, face accusations of preparing to commit acts of terrorism and assisting others to do so. The alleged offences are linked to a timeframe ending on September 20 in Manchester.
According to police, the pair was apprehended in the Northern Quarter district. The arrest occurred during a period when thousands of British Jewish worshippers were attending synagogue services.
Salehi and Ahmadyan are scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
The case highlights ongoing security concerns regarding antisemitic threats, as previous reports have indicated that many Jewish individuals in the UK continue to feel vulnerable to attacks.
Are these charges really about preventing attacks, or just political posturing ahead of the holidays? Skeptical.
Shocking timing right before Yom Kippur. Prayers for the Jewish community and hope justice is swift here.
