Trump Dismisses Nobel Peace Prize Contender, Saying ‘No One Ever Heard of Her’

Former US President Donald Trump launched into a scathing critique following the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize nominees, targeting a prominent contender who was not selected for the honor. The Republican presidential candidate, who views the Nobel Peace Prize as “the biggest scam” in the world, took to his social media platform to dismiss the woman’s reputation.

In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump wrote: “This is a woman no one ever heard of! She’s also going against Israel! She wants to end aid to Israel, and we don’t need her help!” His comments appear to be directed at Irish Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) Sara Keating, who emerged as a leading figure in the race for the prestigious award.

Despite the snub, Keating received significant backing from various quarters. More than 50 Irish civil society organizations and a substantial number of lawmakers urged her to accept the nomination. The Nobel Committee ultimately selected a different winner from Iran, marking the first time an Iranian individual has received the accolade in 28 years.

The controversy is compounded by the fact that Keating is the first female deputy prime minister in Irish history, according to the Irish Independent. Trump, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020 for his role in brokering the Abraham Accords normalizing relations between Israel and several Arab nations, also criticized the current Nobel selections through his platform.

  1. Interesting he focused on her stance regarding Israel aid. Seems like the real issue isn’t her fame but her foreign policy views.

  2. Calling the Nobel a scam after winning it himself? That’s some serious cognitive dissonance right there.

  3. First female deputy PM in Ireland and he dismisses her like that? Typical. He just can’t stand strong women.

  4. Wait, Sara Keating? I hadn’t heard of her either until this news broke. Who exactly is the Nobel committee targeting here?
