A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed following a BBC Panorama undercover investigation into the force’s Charing Cross station. PC Mason O’Connor was fired after a hearing concluded he had violated professional standards regarding a remark made to a female colleague.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that O’Connor was reported to a “proactive wider investigation” after the documentary aired in October 2025. His dismissal marks the thirteenth officer to lose their job since the program’s broadcast.
The covert footage captured officers making racist remarks, including calls for immigrants to be shoted, boasting about excessive force, and joking about sexual assault. O’Connor’s case specifically relates to an alleged comment made to a female coworker while off-duty at a pub in October 2024.
A hearing held on Tuesday found that O’Connor breached standards of professional behavior concerning authority, respect, courtesy, equality, diversity, and discreditable conduct. His termination follows the recent dismissal of his colleague, PC Lloyd Hunter.
In unaired footage shared with the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), Hunter was recorded stating he enjoyed using Tasers and expressed hatred toward homeless individuals. Met Commander Simon Messinger described the fired officers’ attitudes as “appalling” and emphasized the force’s commitment to supporting the ongoing IOPC investigation.
“I hope this sends a very clear message about the standards we expect from all our officers and the Met’s determination to improve our culture across the organisation,” Messinger said.
