Tesco has increased its annual profit projection, highlighting that consumer confidence in the UK has remained relatively stable throughout the year. The supermarket giant acknowledged that ongoing geopolitical tensions continue to generate uncertainty, but noted that shoppers have maintained their spending habits.
For the first six months of its financial year, the UK’s largest grocer reported sales growth of 2%, reaching £33.8 billion. This increase was bolstered by robust performance in its online trading operations. On a profitability basis, underlying profits climbed 6.5% to £1.8 billion, surpassing previous expectations and prompting the upward revision of the company’s full-year forecast.
Six point five percent profit rise while everyone complains about inflation? Interesting times indeed.
Stable consumer confidence is key right now. Good to see Tesco navigating geopolitical noise so effectively.
Online trading carrying the load is impressive. I’ve definitely been doing more grocery shopping via the app lately.
Great news for shareholders, but will this lift prices at the till? We need stability, not just corporate bonuses.
