Taylor Swift is set to premiere the music video for “Patient Zero” during the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday. The announcement was made earlier in the week by the pop star on social media, where she revealed she had been eagerly anticipating the release of the single, which drops on Friday.
Alongside the new track, Swift is releasing a deluxe edition of her latest album titled “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,” featuring four additional songs, also scheduled for Friday. A sneak peek of the upcoming video was exclusively shown on “CBS Mornings” on Thursday.
The ceremony represents a significant milestone in Swift’s career. Organizers announced she will receive the VMAs’ first-ever Artist Director Honors, an award created to recognize artists whose cinematic work has broadened the scope of music videos and elevated visual storytelling. With 11 nominations on top of this new honor, Swift is guaranteed to become the most-awarded artist in the show’s history, surpassing her previous tie with Beyoncé.
The broadcast will air simultaneously on CBS television stations and MTV, with streaming availability on Paramount+. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time and 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
Excited for the ‘Patient Zero’ video, but honestly I just want to know if the encore album has any deep cuts worth hearing.
Wait, so she’s beating Beyoncé for most wins? I always thought Beyoncé held that record exclusively. This is huge news.
Another historic night for Taylor. Winning the new director award is a smart move by MTV to recognize her visual artistry.
