Sydney Roosters complete perfect season with dominant NRLW Grand Final victory

The Sydney Roosters secured their third National Rugby League Women’s premiership with a commanding 30-6 victory over the Brisbane Broncos at Accor Stadium, completing a flawless campaign. The champions, who had won all 11 of their regular-season matches and both finals, produced a first-half blitz featuring six tries to seal the title.

The triumph served as a fitting farewell for retiring stars Corban Baxter and Millie Elliott. Brydie Parker, Tarryn Aiken, Isabelle Kelly, Jayme Fressard, and Amber Hall crossed for tries in the dominant opening half. Parker completed a Grand Final hat-trick before the hour mark, extending Sydney’s lead to 30-0.

Brisbane’s Jesse Southwell managed to get the Broncos on the scoreboard in the 63rd minute, but the outcome was never in doubt as Sydney celebrated a decisive win.

Elliott, retiring from the sport, credited the coaching staff for the team’s success. “Everyone knows what that felt like and we definitely used that as motivation all season, not just in this game, all season,” she said. “And we worked so hard, I take my hat off to [head coach John] Strangey and the coaching staff, they really left no stone unturned this year and we wanted to put in a performance like that.”

Winning captain Isabelle Kelly described the victory as the culmination of a special season. “I knew that this year we’re creating something special, and I think we’re building and made that our best game yet,” Kelly said. She also paid tribute to her teammates. “To Corban and Millie, you guys have been absolutely incredible for this NRLW competition, but mostly for the Roosters the impact that you guys have had on us. Millie, you being a mum, it’s just created such a special bond for us to look forward to for many years. And you’ll always be a Rooster.”

  1. Hat-trick from Parker? Unreal. I honestly didn’t think any team could touch them this year, but this dominates even that.

  2. Corban Baxter and Millie Elliott retiring on top is the perfect ending. Respect to their legacies in the competition.

  3. Is it weird to feel bad for Brisbane? They had no answer for Sydney’s speed. That 30-0 scoreline says it all.

  4. What a season! Six tries in the first half is absolutely devastating. The Roosters were just on another level today.
