The long-running animated series, now officially titled “South America,” premiered its 29th season on Wednesday with an updated theme song and a cameo by Donald Trump. The episode, titled “South American Biker Gangs,” immediately signaled the change with a revised opening lyric: “I’m goin’ down to South America, have myself a time!”
The storyline follows main characters Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny as they embrace e-bikes. Their enthusiasm prompts the adults of the newly named town to form an opposing biker gang. As is typical for the show, Kenny meets his demise when his e-bike explodes, an event that ultimately unites the community to ban the vehicles and launch “South America Strong” merchandise.
Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced the title change earlier this month as a satirical response to recent proposals by Trump to rename landmarks such as Lake Ontario as “Lake America” and New Mexico as “New America.” In a joint statement, the duo cited the actions of Apple and Google as inspiration, adding a jab at their studio executives: “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”
This renaming continues the show’s trend of sharp political commentary seen in Season 28, which featured storylines involving Vice President JD Vance and Pete Hegseth. The series also recently won Outstanding Animated Program at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys, during which the official X account shared a graphic depicting the president with his pants and underwear around his ankles.
