Officials have declared a state of flood disaster across Bangkok following nearly two days of relentless rainfall that left significant portions of the city underwater.
According to reports, some areas of the Thai capital accumulated 300mm of precipitation over a 48-hour period leading up to Saturday. The deluge flooded major roads and submerged numerous vehicles, while swollen canal systems pushed murky water into nearby residences, commercial establishments, and restaurants.
Residents were forced to wade through water that reached waist depth as they navigated the affected neighborhoods.
