Screwworm Case in New Mexico Horse Threatens Resumption of Mexican Livestock Imports

A new instance of New World screwworm has been identified in a horse located in Grant County, New Mexico, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The discovery comes just days before the state was scheduled to restart livestock imports from Mexico.

This marks the second confirmed case of the infestation in New Mexico since previous detections, raising concerns among officials about the timing and potential impact on trade agreements with neighboring Mexico.
