Right-wing commentator Scott Jennings voiced reservations on Wednesday regarding President Trump’s proposal to distribute $5,000 to Americans contingent on a Republican victory in the upcoming midterm elections.
Speaking with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on the program “The Source,” Jennings stated, “I don’t know that that is the right idea here,” when addressing the financial incentive.
He elaborated that a more appropriate approach for the right would be to prioritize sustained economic expansion and employment opportunities, noting that growth is already occurring.
Jennings makes a fair point, but voters also see stagnant wages. Sometimes you have to meet people where they are, not just talk about GDP.
I’m skeptical. If the economy is already growing as claimed, why do we need to buy votes with a $5k check?
Wait, is this actually part of the platform now? I thought they focused on tax cuts. This sounds like populist pandering to me.
Direct cash payments feel like a distraction. Long-term growth and jobs are far more sustainable for the average American household.
