Mikhail Zvinchuk, the prominent pro-Kremlin military blogger behind the influential Rybar website, has been taken into custody in Montenegro. The arrest follows official warnings regarding potential efforts to destabilize the Balkan nation.
According to local media reports, Zvinchuk, who is believed to have connections with Russian intelligence services, was detained on Friday in the Adriatic resort town of Risan. He was held alongside his wife and three other Russian nationals by police and security agents. Authorities cited suspicions that the group was engaged in activities aimed at spreading Russian influence in the region.
Rybar is huge for wartime morale. Arresting the founder is a bold move by Podgorica, but will it actually stop the influence?
Interesting that Montenegro is cracking down so hard. Seems like they are finally taking these information operations seriously.
