Following President Volodymyr Zelensky’s declaration that Ukrainian forces would attack Russian oil refineries, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that it plans to retaliate by targeting military and industrial infrastructure within Ukraine.
The threat was issued directly after Zelensky confirmed that his country’s armed forces would focus their efforts on Russia’s energy sector. In response, Russian officials stated that strikes would be directed at military and military-industrial facilities, as well as related infrastructure in Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions.
The escalation marks a significant intensification in the ongoing conflict, with both sides signaling an intent to strike deeper into enemy territory and disrupt critical supply lines.
