The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has issued a warning to its supporters that their personal information may have been compromised in a cyberattack, which appears to be linked to harassment by far-right agitators opposed to the charity’s migrant rescue operations.
In a letter distributed with the autumn issue of Lifeboat magazine, the charity informed members that details including names, contact information, and records of their interactions with the RNLI could have been stolen.
The breach reportedly affected a third-party vendor used by the RNLI for customer relationship management. The incident underscores the growing targeting of the lifeboat charity, which has faced hostility from individuals objecting to its involvement in rescuing migrants crossing the Channel.
