Reform UK has secured a £36 million donation from British cryptocurrency billionaire Ben Delo, marking the largest single contribution ever made to a UK political party. Nigel Farage, the party’s leader, described himself as “honoured and humbled” by the unprecedented support. Police have launched an investigation into allegations that the party violated foreign funding laws, following a report by Channel 4 News. Additionally, the Metropolitan Police are examining payments made to the party in the weeks preceding the last election, specifically those linked to Fiona Cottrell and a company controlled by deputy leader Richard Tice.
Farage is also facing an inquiry from the parliamentary standards commissioner over whether he failed to declare a £5 million cash gift from Thai cryptocurrency investor Christopher Harborne before his 2024 election victory. Farage maintains that the gift was “purely private” and unrelated to his official duties.
