Raaheeb Returns to Action at Windsor as Sky Sports Racing Highlights Today

Shadwell-owned Raaheeb makes his seasonal return this afternoon, headline an eventful card on Sky Sports Racing. The son of a top-class broodmare suite faces a challenging test in the Weatherbys Global Stallions App Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor.

As a full brother to elite performers Baaeed and Hukum, Raaheeb has shown significant talent throughout his young career. He opened his account impressively as a two-year-old and followed up with a commanding victory in the Classic Trial at Sandown. Although he finished fourth in the Irish Derby, travelling well as a genuine contender before fading late under Rossa Ryan, the layoff appears to have suited his development. Connections believe the time given for him to mature both physically and mentally positions him well for success, even if he carries a weight penalty.

Among his main rivals is Venetian Prince, trained by the in-form Andrew Balding. The Italian Derby winner from June must correct the mistakes of his Royal Ascot exit, where he was defeated over three furlongs out in the King Edward VII Stakes. Meanwhile, Maho Bay represents another strong danger; despite suffering bad luck in the straight at the Royal meeting, the unexposed horse remains a serious threat to the Balding yard.

Other contenders include Crest Of Fire and Harmonics, who have been steadily progressing through handicaps but will need to take a substantial leap forward to win at this higher grade.

At Newton Abbot, the Par Inn Handicap Hurdle features two horses in strong form: Arctic Voyage and Edelak. Edelak resumed his winning ways at Stratford in July after a fall on his previous start and has now won four of his last five races. A short break following a busy schedule could help him deliver a career-best performance.

Arctic Voyage has adapted brilliantly to hurdles since joining Michael Blake’s stable, securing three wins from his last four starts and scoring comfortably on his most recent outing. War Correspondent, currently on a fair mark and returning to hurdles, faces tougher competition after two poor performances over fences. Ellerton stands out as a key danger, having won encouragingly back over hurdles following a breathing operation.

Further down the card at Wolverhampton, progressive filly Brunhilde steps up in distance for the Follow @attheraces On Instagram Handicap. Trained by George Boughey, she has improved with every run since her debut in May, most recently winning by over five lengths at Lingfield. Closely related to Godolphin’s listed winner Ghostwatch, she is well-suited to the extended one mile and six furlongs trip.

Last Verse, who won impressively at Lingfield on his latest start, remains unexposed and on the right side of the handicap. Level Look is another to watch after a promising second at Chester, while Robusto, coming off a recent win, may have less scope for improvement due to a higher all-weather mark compared to his rivals.
