Presidential TV Pool Suspended After Trump Banned CNN, MSNOW, and Politico

The rotating television press pool that covers President Trump’s movements will be suspended following the administration’s decision to ban CNN, MSNOW, and Politico from White House coverage.

A coalition of five major networks—ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, and NBC—typically shares the responsibility of traveling with the president. They provide video feeds to other news organizations on a rotation basis. However, because CNN was scheduled to take the lead on Monday for President Trump’s trip to New York City, no network agreed to fill the gap in its place.

In a joint statement released Monday, the five networks declared, “The public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government. No administration should reject a news organization because it objects to its reporting.”
