Voters in Holborn and St Pancras have concluded their ballots in a by-election widely viewed as a critical stress test for Labour Party leadership. The contest centers on whether Andy Burnham can consolidate the party’s electorate or if Green Party candidate Zack Polanski can successfully draw support from Labour’s progressive wing.
Labour is aiming to retain the constituency that former Prime Minister Keir Starmer previously held. During the 2024 general election, Starmer secured a substantial majority of more than 11,000 votes in this north London seat, making its retention a priority for the party.
