Polish Police Investigate Alleged Assassination Plot Targeting Prime Minister and Defence Minister

Police in Poland have launched an investigation into an alleged plot to assassinate Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz. The inquiry began after authorities received information regarding the potential attack, prompting the Interior Ministry to order immediate action, according to a Sunday statement from ministry spokesperson Karolina Galecka.

Galecka confirmed that emergency talks were held on Sunday involving members of the police, the state protection service, and ministry representatives to assess the situation. Following the meeting, Jacek Dobrzynski, a spokesperson for special services, told reporters that officials were treating the intelligence as “serious,” local media reported. Dobrzynski also confirmed to the private broadcaster Polsat News that further measures had been decided upon, though specific details were not disclosed.

Radio Zet reported that the initial tip arrived via an email. As of now, no additional information has been released regarding the nature of the plot or its origin. Both Prime Minister Tusk and Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz, who also serves as deputy prime minister, have not yet issued any public comments regarding the threat.

  1. Is this another hybrid warfare tactic from Moscow? The timing feels suspiciously coordinated with recent political tensions.
