Patrick Clancy addressed the intense public scrutiny surrounding his ex-wife’s murder trial, stating that he believes he handled the situation as effectively as possible given the circumstances.
In an exclusive interview with CBS News correspondent Ross Douthat, Clancy reflected on the tragedy that claimed the lives of their three children. “I think I did the best I could with what I had at the time, and I live with the outcome. I live with it every day, but I think I did the best I could,” he said when asked if he harbors self-directed anger or feelings of failure.
Clancy and his wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, spoke with 60 Minutes following the conclusion of Lindsay Clancy’s trial, which ended in a mistrial. Lindsay Clancy’s legal team maintained that she was experiencing postpartum psychosis when she killed their children in January 2023: Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and Callan, 8 months old.
Court documents indicate that Lindsay Clancy consulted multiple healthcare providers in the months leading up to the deaths. She was prescribed a extensive regimen of medications and underwent several days of inpatient psychiatric treatment prior to the incident.

I just can’t wrap my head around such a senseless loss for all three families involved.
A mistrial isn’t a verdict. I worry this interview will sway public opinion unfairly.
Postpartum psychosis is terrifyingly real, but the grief for the parents must be unimaginable too.
Did he really have no further options? Consulting providers wasn’t enough if the kids were still in danger.
