Old Kingdom Tomb of Royal Scribe Unearthed at Saqqara

Archaeologists working at the Saqqara necropolis in Egypt have unearthed an ancient tomb belonging to Sekhentio-Ptah, an official who held the title “keeper of the secrets of royal decrees.” The discovery was announced by Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities following recent excavations at the historic site.

Sekhentro-Ptah lived during the Old Kingdom period, which spanned from 2649 to 2150 B.C., an era renowned for the construction of the great pyramids, including those at Giza. According to his tomb inscriptions, the official also held the titles of “Overseer of all the King’s Works” and “Overseer of Royal Documents.”
