The ongoing impact of generative AI on global technology supply chains has introduced a new economic reality: any device containing memory or storage is facing price increases in 2026. This trend now affects even legacy hardware, as confirmed by Nvidia’s recent decision to raise the price of the Shield TV Pro by $100.
First released in 2019, the Shield TV Pro has remained relevant due to its fast Tegra X1+ processor, hardware-accelerated decoding for various media formats, and Android TV interface featuring AI upscaling. At its launch, the device was priced at $199.99, while a non-Pro version was available for $149.99. Nvidia has since discontinued the non-Pro model, leaving the Shield TV Pro as the sole remaining option in the lineup.
Effective October 2, the Shield TV Pro will retail for $299.99. A company spokesperson acknowledged the direct link between the rising costs and the current AI boom, stating that memory and other component prices have increased substantially across the entire industry.
