In a move to solidify its audio lineup while it strategizes regarding its smartphone future, Nothing has introduced the Headphone 1 Pro. Priced at $399, this new flagship device distinguishes itself with studio-level controls, most notably a physical switch designed to disable the equalizer and spatial audio for accurate mixing.
The design maintains the brand’s signature transparent aesthetic, available in white and black finishes, though yellow is reportedly omitted to suit professional tastes. The headphones include a glossy hard case inspired by late-1990s tech design, allowing users to carry the device by the headband.
According to the company, the flat equalizer profile was developed in collaboration with London-based Metropolis Studios. This feature aims to provide audio professionals with an uncolored sound representation, contrasting with the general industry trend of enhancing bass and effects. While the reviewer noted uncertainty about how mainstream listeners accustomed to boosted frequencies will respond, the inclusion marks a potential first for consumer headphones.
Technical specifications include support for LDAC, 24-bit high-resolution audio, and wireless lossless connections. The device utilizes a three-driver system covering bass, vocals, and instruments, and features Auracast compatibility for both transmission and reception via the companion app.
Nothing claims the Headphone 1 Pro offers its most advanced active noise cancellation (ANC) to date, utilizing ten microphones and a new silicone baffle wall to improve the physical sound barrier. Battery performance is rated at up to 32 hours with ANC enabled and 68 hours with it turned off. The headphones also carry an IP52 rating for dust and water resistance.
Comfort improvements over the original Headphone 1 are significant; the ear cushions are said to be 50% softer and better adapted for glasses wearers, while the headband has been widened by 10%. The product is available now through Nothing’s website, Amazon, and Best Buy in the United States.
To coincide with the launch, Nothing appointed BTS member V as a new global brand ambassador, raising questions among fans about the status of previous ambassador Charli XCX.
