Norfolk man appears in court charged with wife’s murder

A man has appeared in court facing a murder charge following the death of his wife, a general practitioner in Norfolk. Mark Cain, 45, was remanded in custody after appearing at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The charge relates to the death of Dr Hannah Terry, also known as Hannah Cain, who was found deceased at a property in Fern Hill, Dersingham, near the Sandringham estate, on Sunday. The couple both reside in Fern Hill.

During the brief hearing, Cain, dressed in a black sweatshirt, confirmed only his age, name, and address to the court. District judge Matthew Bone ordered that he remain in custody pending a scheduled appearance at King’s Lynn Crown Court on Thursday.

Prosecutor Jackie Hanlon informed the court that emergency services were called following reports from the ambulance service at 02:25 BST on Sunday.

Hanlon detailed findings from a post-mortem examination, which identified blunt force trauma to the right side of Dr Terry’s head. The report also noted an injury consistent with compression of the neck.

Dr Terry, 45, was a practicing GP in the region. Her death has prompted an ongoing police investigation.
