Miles Teller is set to be recognized with the Artist of Distinction Award by the Newport Beach Film Festival. The accolade will be presented during the festival’s annual Honors ceremony on October 18.
Newport Beach Film Festival CEO and executive director Gregg Schwenk praised the actor’s commitment to his craft. “Miles Teller brings extraordinary dedication to every role he takes on,” Schwenk said. “He consistently delivers standout performances in both major blockbusters and character-driven indies, and we are thrilled to celebrate his career in Newport Beach.”
Teller currently stars alongside Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson in James Gray’s thriller “Paper Tiger.” The film, which follows two brothers who become entangled in a dangerous criminal underworld, is scheduled to screen at the festival on October 18. Neon will release the movie in theaters on November 13.
The actor’s filmography includes his breakout role as Andrew Neiman in Damien Chazelle’s “Whiplash,” his portrayal of producer Al Ruddy in the limited series “The Offer,” and his performance as Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw in Paramount’s “Top Gun: Maverick.” Other notable credits include A24’s “Eternity,” Apple TV+’s “The Gorge,” and dramas such as “The Spectacular Now,” “Only the Brave,” and “Bleed for This.” He is also currently filming the crime thriller “Copperhead.”
Teller joins a list of previously announced honorees for the festival, which includes KJ Apa, Sosie Bacon, Gemma Chan, Jonás Cuarón, Sarah Finn, Mckenna Grace, Justin Hartley, Taraji P. Henson, and Jack O’Connell.
The Newport Beach Film Festival runs from October 15 to 22. In addition to “Paper Tiger,” the lineup features screenings of “A Talent for Murder,” “Behemoth!,” “Ink,” “Josephine,” “La Bola Negra,” “The Only Living Pickpocket in New York,” and “Wild Horse Nine.”
