Microsoft is rolling out an emergency out-of-band update to address problems stemming from its September Patch Tuesday release, which stands as the company’s most extensive security update to date. While the monthly fix remedied nearly 1,000 vulnerabilities, it simultaneously introduced several bugs that have disrupted businesses, developers, and gamers.
According to the software giant, the September update caused issues affecting folder shares on Hyper-V-based Linux virtual machines, Remote Desktop Services sessions, and certain USB audio devices. The newly released out-of-band patch, which went live yesterday, resolves these specific compatibility problems across Windows 11 versions 26H1, 25H2, and 24H2.
