Mexican Independence Day Parade Postponed in New Jersey Over ICE Enforcement Surge

For over 30 years, the Mexican Day parade in Passaic has stood as one of New Jersey’s premier celebrations of Mexican heritage and culture. This year, however, organizers announced the event has been postponed indefinitely.

The decision comes in response to a noticeable increase in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests throughout the area. According to CBS News New York reporter Nick Caloway, the heightened enforcement climate has significantly impacted community engagement, prompting organizers to make the difficult call to cancel.
