A federal jury in Los Angeles has cleared Grammy-winning artist Durk Devontay Banks, known professionally as Lil Durk, of all charges related to a murder-for-hire conspiracy. The verdict was delivered on Friday, ending a high-profile legal battle that carried the potential for a life sentence.
Banks had faced multiple felony counts, including murder, stalking, and conspiracy. Prosecutors alleged that the Chicago rapper offered a bounty to anyone willing to kill Atlanta-based musician Tyquian Bowman, also known as Quando Rondo.
The alleged plot was reportedly in retaliation for the 2020 killing of King Von, another rapper from Banks’ Chicago collective, Only the Family (OTF). Authorities stated that the attack occurred following an exchange of gunfire outside the Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta.
Legal documents indicate that the conspiracy led to a 2022 shooting near the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. During the incident, gunfire missed Quando Rondo but struck and killed his cousin, 24-year-old Saviay’a Robinson.
While Banks was fully acquitted, two co-defendants, Deandre Wilson and David Lindsey, received different outcomes. Both men were convicted on stalking and stalking conspiracy charges but were found not guilty of the murder-for-hire allegations. Five other individuals associated with the OTF collective were also accused in connection with the case.
Key testimony against the defendants came from cooperating witnesses. Keith Jones, also known as Flacka, pleaded guilty to Robinson’s murder and provided evidence against Banks, Wilson, and Lindsey. Similarly, Kavon Grant, or OTF Vonnie, entered a guilty plea and testified against the three defendants.
Banks is a Grammy Award winner, having taken home the prize for Best Melodic Rap Performance in 2024 for his hit track “All My Life” featuring J. Cole. He had previously been nominated for the award three other times.
