Latvia Exit Polls Show PM’s Pro-Ukraine Party Leading Despite Coalition Setbacks

Exit polls from Saturday’s parliamentary election in Latvia indicate that Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs’ pro-Ukraine and pro-Europe party secured a surprisingly large victory. Despite the strong showing for the PM’s party, projected results for other members of the governing coalition suggest that Mr. Kulbergs will need to negotiate a new ruling coalition.

  1. The PM won, but the partners stumbled. This means weeks of negotiation. Can Latvia afford another delay right now?

  2. Surprised by the wide margin! I expected it to be much tighter given the current political climate in the region.

  3. Good for the pro-Europe stance, but forming a stable coalition after this split might be tricky. Hope they can agree soon.
