The Kennedy Center Honors is set to take place in early December, with the event moving to the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., a center representative confirmed to ABC News. The decision comes amid an uncertain outlook for the institution’s traditional venue.
Marked as the Kennedy Center’s most prestigious annual event, the ceremony will be held on December 7. The Capital One Arena serves as the home court for the Washington Wizards, the Washington Capitals, and Georgetown University’s men’s basketball team, and is also a frequent host for major concerts.
At least the event goes on. Hope they have good sound engineering in there. The Wizards crowd might get a little rowdy.
What a weird choice. I paid to see a Kennedy Center honoree, why am I in a basketball arena now? So much for the tradition.
