Joe DiGenova Resigns from DOJ After Leading Probe of Obama, Biden Officials

Joe DiGenova, the attorney appointed by Attorney General Todd Blanche to oversee a controversial probe alleging a grand conspiracy involving officials from the Obama and Biden administrations, abruptly resigned on Thursday.

DiGenova informed CBS News that he submitted his resignation letter to Blanche at 3 p.m. local time. Describing the role as an honor, he did not disclose the specific motivations behind his sudden departure.

His wife, Victoria Toensing, an attorney who was also serving with a team of federal prosecutors in Fort Pierce, Florida, is expected to leave the Justice Department on Friday.

The resignation of DiGenova, who had been tapped to lead the high-profile investigation, was first reported by ABC News. Requests for comment from the Department of Justice regarding the circumstances of the exit have not yet been returned.
